Softball Recap: South Bend St. Joseph Huskies vs. Logansport Berries

After a string of five wins, South Bend St. Joseph's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Logansport Berries by a score of 6-5. South Bend St. Joseph was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Logansport apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on Saturday.

Payton Wulf was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Stack, who went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.

On Logansport's side, Brooklynn Hagerty made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Hagerty was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

In other batting news, Aracyn Good was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

South Bend St. Joseph's loss dropped their record down to 17-3. As for Logansport, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Bend St. Joseph is on the road again on Monday to play Penn at 6:30 p.m. Penn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season. As for Logansport, they will head out on the road to challenge Huntington North at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
