Softball Recap: Okawville Comes Up Short

Okawville fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Red Bud on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Musketeers by a score of 12-11. The Rockets have struggled against the Musketeers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Jaycie Buss was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Schae Juenger was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Okawville's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Red Bud, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Okawville will face off against Gibault Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Red Bud, they will take on Apollo at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
