Preview: Southeast Cyclones vs. Mitchell Tigers
Southeast has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Mitchell Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Southeast is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mitchell in their respective states (Southeast is ranked 19th in Wyoming, while Mitchell is ranked 211th in Nebraska).
Last Friday, Southeast was able to grind out a solid win over Pine Bluffs, taking the game 33-26.
Southeast can attribute much of their success to Baylie Booth, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Sasha Haines, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Mitchell's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They were beaten by Pine Bluffs 61-31. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mitchell in their matchups with Pine Bluffs: they've now lost three in a row.
Southeast is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Mitchell, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-11.
Everything came up roses for Southeast against Mitchell in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 55-26 win. With Southeast ahead 31-11 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
