Recap: Lima Christian Saints vs. Finney Falcons
It was a good run, but the Lima Christian Saints unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 59-28 loss at the hands of Finney. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lima Christian has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Lima Christian saw an underclassman step up: Alyssa Marsh scored 13 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Marsh scored a full 46.4% of Lima Christian's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Rachel Negbegble was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds.
Lima Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Finney, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Lima Christian will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Jasper-Troupsburg at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jasper-Troupsburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Lima Christian is ranked 47th). Finney will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Harley Allendale Columbia at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
