Basketball Recap: Cross Takes a Loss

Cross lost against Bridges Prep back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Cross Stingrays lost 76-51 to the Bridges Prep Buccaneers. While losing is never fun, the Stingrays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 290th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 143rd).

A Wilson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bridges Prep, dropping a triple-double on 22 points, 19 boards, and ten blocks. The dominant performance gave Wilson a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was PJ Capers, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists.

Cross has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which is still a better percentage than their 4-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Bridges Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cross and Bethesda Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. As for Bridges Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Edisto at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
