Morgantown is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Fairmont Senior is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mohigans will welcome the Polar Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Morgantown 3.5, Fairmont Senior 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Morgantown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: University, who was ranked 21st at the time (Morgantown was ranked third). The Mohigans never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory on Friday. The Mohigans haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
The result came thanks to Maddox Boggs's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Bowers, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Fairmont Senior unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wheeling Park.
Brock Martin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Fairmont Senior's defeat dropped their record down to 22-5. As for Morgantown, their victory bumped their record up to 23-9.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Morgantown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Fairmont Senior struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
