Softball Recap: Stuttgart Has No Trouble Against Trumann

Stuttgart made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Trumann, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Ricebirds blew past the Wildcats 18-2 on Thursday. The Ricebirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Kayleigh Smith-Covington, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Kaci Cline was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Stuttgart is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Trumann, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Looking ahead, Stuttgart will be playing in front of their home fans against Baptist Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Trumann, they will venture away from home to take on Buffalo Island Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
