Soccer Game Preview: Burlington vs. Fort Madison

Burlington has gone 8-2 against Fort Madison recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Grayhounds will challenge the Bloodhounds at 5:00 p.m.

Burlington is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Quincy Notre Dame on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to the Raiders. Burlington have struggled against Quincy Notre Dame recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Fort Madison strolled into their game on Monday with an undefeated record and they left with the same. Their defense stepped up to hand Fairfield a 3-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Fort Madison, who have now won seven matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Fort Madison's win bumped their record up to 7-0-1. As for Burlington, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1-1.

Burlington skirted past Fort Madison 2-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grayhounds since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
