Basketball Recap: Owen Valley Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

North Putnam came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Owen Valley, but Aubrey Sparks wouldn't allow it. The Owen Valley Patriots walked away with a 66-58 win over the North Putnam Cougars on Friday thanks in part to Sparks, who went 16 for 25 en route to 42 points and eight rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Owen Valley's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Owen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. What's more, she also racked up five steals, the most she's had since back in November of 2023.

North Putnam lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Hailee Daigle, who posted six points along with six assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jacy Huffman, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 13 points.

Owen Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for North Putnam, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.

Owen Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-47 loss against White River Valley on the 28th. As for North Putnam, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-32 win against Brown County on the 25th.
