Basketball Game Preview: Fargo South Bruins vs. Shanley Deacons

Fargo South is 0-10 against Shanley since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Fargo South Bruins will be playing at home against the Shanley Deacons at 7:30 p.m.

Fargo South is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 20th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 63-34 loss at the hands of Red River. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Roughriders are ranked 34th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shanley). They blew past West Fargo 86-56 on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Deacons with their most commanding win of the season.

Shanley pushed their record up to 7-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Fargo South, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-17.

Fargo South suffered a grim 61-39 defeat to Shanley when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Fargo South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
