Baseball Recap: Northfield Extends Winning Streak to Three

Northfield entered their tilt with The Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 14-2 victory. Considering the Nighthawks have won three matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jackson Taylor looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Loudon Schoenfelder was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jose Fernando La Cruz Romero, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Northfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Academy only posted a batting average of .105.

Northfield's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for The Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Northfield didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-7 victory against Fort Morgan on the 21st. As for The Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-10 loss against Greeley Central on the 21st.
