Basketball Preview: Winnebago Indians vs. Wakefield Trojans
The Winnebago Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Wakefield Trojans on Tuesday. Wakefield took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Winnebago, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Winnebago was able to grind out a solid win over the Wolfpack, taking the game 53-45. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Winnebago.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Winnebago to victory, but perhaps none more so than Timothy Lapointe, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Rahkim Free-bass, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Wakefield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight defeat. They fell just short of Bloomfield by a score of 54-51.
Winnebago's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Wakefield, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Winnebago came up short against the Trojans in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 63-58. Thankfully for Winnebago, Cade Johnson (who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 15 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
