Basketball Recap: Kaley Bell Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Calhoun Academy

Holly Hill Academy hadn't done well against Calhoun Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Holly Hill Academy Raiders managed a 29-25 win over the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Cavaliers back in January, they had to take a 28-23 loss.

Holly Hill Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaley Bell, who posted six points. Bell is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Essie Wolpert was another key player, putting up eight points.

Calhoun Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ella Jane Stickles, who put up eight points along with 14 rebounds and four steals, and Coker Carson, who earned eight points and ten boards.

Holly Hill Academy's record is now 2-12. As for Calhoun Academy, they dropped their record down to 8-14 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Holly Hill Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 39-22 win against Faith Christian on the 30th. As for Calhoun Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-11 defeat against Orangeburg Prep on the 31st.
