Baseball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Lake Mary Prep

Lake Mary Prep won against Crooms Academy last Thursday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Lake Mary Prep Griffins beat the St. John Lutheran Saints by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Griffins also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2018.

Malachi Beedle made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has become a key player for Lake Mary Prep: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise. Beedle was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Ben Tate was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Lake Mary Prep and bumps their season record up to 4-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for St. John Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Coming up, Lake Mary Prep will welcome Crooms Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crooms Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season. As for St. John Lutheran, they will head out to take on Hilliard at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. St. John Lutheran is facing Hilliard at the right time seeing as Hilliard is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
