Baseball Recap: Cerro Gordo/Bement Comes Up Short

Cerro Gordo/Bement was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 11-1 to the Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers. If the Broncos were looking for revenge after losing 15-0 to the Hilltoppers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Cerro Gordo/Bement saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Hentz, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Cerro Gordo/Bement's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Mt. Pulaski, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2.

Looking ahead, Cerro Gordo/Bement will square off against Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Mt. Pulaski, they will take on Clinton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
