Baseball Recap: Belton Comes Up Short

Belton had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 3-10 to make it five. They came up short against the Harrisonville Wildcats, falling 24-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 5-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Harrisonville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Harrisonville's part, Asher Hall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Hall posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Ryan Goss was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Levi Hall was another key player, going 1-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Belton will head out to face off against Mexico at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Harrisonville, they will take on Pleasant Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
