Softball Recap: Hixson Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

While Hixson's win against Signal Mountain wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Eagles on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

The team relied heavily on Landry Bruggink, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Chloe Turner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Hixson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Signal Mountain only posted a batting average of .207.

Hixson's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Signal Mountain, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hixson will take on Chattanooga Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pounders have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season. As for Signal Mountain, they will square off against Walker Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
