Preview: Morse Tigers vs. La Jolla Country Day Torreys
The Morse Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the La Jolla Country Day Torreys at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Morse is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Morse lost to Mira Mesa on the road by a decisive 48-29 margin.
Morse's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jonah Holloway, who rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Superior Garror, who rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, La Jolla Country Day can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Francis Parker 48-6 at home. Given La Jolla Country Day's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 389th, while Francis Parker is ranked 779th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Jaden Mangini, who rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 15 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Davin Doak also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
With Morse's loss and Mira Mesa's victory, both teams now sport identical 4-6 records.
