Recap: East Haven Yellowjackets vs. Amistad Wolves
The third road contest was the charm for the East Haven Yellowjackets, as they earned their first road win of the season. They escaped with a win on Thursday against Amistad by the margin of a single free throw, 48-47. That's another feather in the cap for East Haven, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was LaShaya Patterson , who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Patterson scored a full 34% of Amistad's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnae McFadden, who scored 11 points along with six assists and three steals.
East Haven's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Amistad, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
East Haven won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sacred Heart Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Sacred Heart Academy will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Amistad, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodstock Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Woodstock Academy will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
