Lakeland had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Eastside Blazers 2-1 on Wednesday. The Lakers haven't had any issues with the Blazers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Garrett Pieri was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Levi Cook was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Lakeland's record is now 24-4. As for Eastside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.

Looking ahead, Lakeland will take on Prairie Heights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lakers are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Eastside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
