Baseball Recap: Fairfield Starts off Right with Win over Cordova

Fairfield had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Cordova Lancers with a sharp 14-3 victory. The Falcons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lancers, too.

Christian Rambeau made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Devin Knox was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Osvaldo Gonzalez was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Cordova now has a losing record of 0-1-1.

We've got a battle between Falcons coming up. As for Cordova, they will challenge Union Mine at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
