Basketball Recap: Santa Rosa Falls Short of George West in the Playoffs

Santa Rosa and George West squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Santa Rosa had to settle for second. They took a 40-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the George West Longhorns.

When it comes to explaining why Santa Rosa lost, don't look at Mia Garza. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Garza also posted a 55% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amber Mendoza, who posted six points in addition to eight boards and three blocks.

Santa Rosa dropped their record down to 22-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for George West, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-18.

Santa Rosa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for George West, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-26 defeat against Tidehaven on the 17th.
