Softball Game Preview: Calistoga Wildcats vs. Laytonville Warriors

Calistoga is 0-6 against Laytonville since April of 2017 but things could change on Friday. Calistoga is taking a road trip to take on Laytonville at 4:00 p.m. Laytonville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Calistoga, who comes in off a win.

Calistoga will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Technology on Tuesday. Calistoga blew past Technology 15-2. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Laytonville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 13-3 to Willits.

Laytonville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ani Rogers, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Rogers hit this season. Trinity Davis was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Calistoga's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Laytonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Calistoga might still be hurting after the 26-10 loss they got from Laytonville in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Calistoga avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
