Calhoun hasn't had much luck against Southwestern recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Warriors will take on the Piasa Birds at 10:00 a.m. Calhoun is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Calhoun proved they can win big on Monday (they won by seven) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Greenfield/Northwestern 4-3.

Max Toppmeyer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Southwestern ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Staunton 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Piasa Birds in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Ian Brantley, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Southwestern is 4-1 when Brantley posts three or more hits, but 4-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ike Austin, who went 1-for-4 with two runs.

Calhoun's record now sits at 14-3. As for Southwestern, their record is now 8-14.

Calhoun skirted past Southwestern 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
