Baseball Recap: Excel Comes Up Short

Excel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sweet Water Bulldogs. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 6-3.

Logan Adams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Excel's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 7-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of JP Norris, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Excel's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Sweet Water, their win bumped their record up to 11-12.

Coming up, Excel will be playing at home against Cottage Hill Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sweet Water, they will take on Thomasville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
