Softball Recap: North Pitt Takes a Loss

North Pitt had lost seven straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-19 to make it eight. They came up short against the Farmville Central Jaguars, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 last Monday.

As for Farmville Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

For Farmville Central's part, Corri Houston made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Houston has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Farmville Central got a massive performance out of Michele Wirth, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Wirth is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Callie Mitchell, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

While North Pitt had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
