Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson Panthers vs. Ennis Mustangs

The Jefferson Panthers will face off against the Ennis Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Jefferson will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Jefferson's tournament run continued when they took on Broadwater on Friday. Jefferson managed a 54-49 victory over Broadwater.

Ryian Eveland and Cameron Toney were among the main playmakers for Jefferson as the former dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. The match was Toney's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Jaida Jurenka was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Ennis walked away with it. They snuck past the Tigers with a 47-42 win last Friday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Tigers are ranked 79th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ennis' victory bumped their record up to 18-1-1. As for Jefferson, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.

Jefferson came up short against Ennis when the teams last played back in February, falling 46-36. Can Jefferson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
