Baseball Recap: Pontotoc's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Pontotoc proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Pine Grove Panthers 4-3. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pontotoc saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Whiteside, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Pontotoc, bringing their record for this year to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pine Grove, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-6 record.

Coming up, Pontotoc will challenge Munford at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pine Grove, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lausanne Collegiate at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
