Baseball Recap: Delone Catholic Find Success

Delone Catholic was handed a 15-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past the West York Area Bulldogs 3-2. This was payback for the Squires, who suffered an 11-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jack Wilson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. That run marked the first that he scored this season.

Wilson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zach Staub, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Preston Younkins also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Delone Catholic's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for West York Area, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Delone Catholic has already played their next contest, a 9-8 win against Fairfield on the 26th. As for West York Area, they will head out to square off against York County Tech at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
