Preview: Arapahoe Warriors vs. Southern Valley Eagles
Arapahoe has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Southern Valley Eagles on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Arapahoe beat Axtell 37-33.
Arapahoe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Berkley Warner, who scored 16 points. Warner continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Carpenter, who scored five points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Southern Valley entered their tilt with Holdrege with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Southern Valley blew past Holdrege 46-21. Southern Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 22 points or more this season.
Arapahoe is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Southern Valley, they pushed their record up to 13-1 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Arapahoe ended up a good deal behind Southern Valley in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, losing 53-36. Can Arapahoe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
