Softball Preview: Palm Desert Aztecs vs. Redlands Terriers
The Palm Desert Aztecs will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Redlands Terriers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Palm Desert is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Coachella Valley on Thursday.
Gwyneth Kitagawa made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Taneia Arviso, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Redlands). They skirted past Arrowhead Christian 9-8.
The team relied heavily on Shay Figueroa, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those runs were her first of the season. Sophia Akimoto was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Redlands kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
