Basketball Recap: Calhoun County Saints vs. Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Trojans
Calhoun County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 59-29 loss at the hands of the Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Trojans. The Saints were not able to make up for their loss to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.
Calhoun County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Tyler-Corley, who posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cassidy Pough, who earned six points and eight rebounds.
Calhoun County now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Hunter-Kinard-Tyler, their victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
Calhoun County will venture away from home to challenge Blackville-Hilda at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Calhoun County is facing Blackville-Hilda at the right time seeing as Blackville-Hilda is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Hunter-Kinard-Tyler, they will welcome Williston-Elko at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hunter-Kinard-Tyler's defense has only allowed 28.1 points per game this season, so Williston-Elko's offense will have their work cut out for them.
