Football Game Preview: Mesquite Wildcats vs. Poston Butte Broncos + How To Watch

The Mesquite Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Poston Butte Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Mesquite and nine for Poston Butte.

Mesquite is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Snowflake on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Wildcats had to suffer through a 41-13 loss at the hands of the Lobos. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Lobos are ranked 29th).

Mesquite's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kameron Gillie, who rushed for 54 yards and one touchdown, and Andrew Joiner, who picked up 79 receiving yards and one score.

Mesquite didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tristan Saldivar and Isaiah Durden.

Meanwhile, Poston Butte ended up a good deal behind Combs on Friday and lost 22-7.

Mesquite now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Poston Butte, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Mesquite came out on top in a nail-biter against Poston Butte in their previous matchup back in October of 2019, sneaking past 54-52. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
