Softball Game Preview: Paso Robles Bearcats vs. Mission College Prep Royals

Paso Robles has gone a perfect 9-0 against Mission College Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. Paso Robles will welcome Mission College Prep at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Paso Robles has three straight victories, Mission College Prep has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Thursday, Paso Robles beat Templeton 8-5.

Cayla Zavalla was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Torres Perez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Mission College Prep lost 11-2 to St. Joseph on Friday.

Mission College Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dani Rivas, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Malia Okimoto was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Paso Robles pushed their record up to 7-3-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mission College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Mission College Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Paso Robles has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. It's a different story for Mission College Prep, though, as they've only averaged .316. Will they be able to contain Paso Robles' hitters?

Paso Robles came out on top in a nail-biter against Mission College Prep when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 2-0. Will Paso Robles repeat their success, or does Mission College Prep has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
