Baseball Recap: Mishawaka Marian Has No Trouble Against South Bend Riley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Elkhart, Mishawaka Marian was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the South Bend Riley Wildcats. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Cade Briones looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Evan Maloney, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Mishawaka Marian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-15 otherwise. Devin Weber was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Mishawaka Marian's record is now 9-15. As for South Bend Riley, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-20.
