Volleyball Recap: Lake Wales Takes a Loss

The Lake Wales Highlanders didn't have quite enough to beat the Discovery Spartans on Wednesday and fell 3-2. While the Highlanders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 25-21 in the first set.

Lake Wales took Discovery into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 15-10.

Mason Brown paced Lake Wales' offense, picking up ten kills. Brown got some help from Jase Beales and his 31 assists.

Lake Wales has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Discovery, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Lake Wales and Discovery are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Highlanders will challenge Lakeland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Discovery, they will square off against Foundation Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
