Baseball Game Preview: North Catholic Trojans vs. Central Valley Warriors

For the second straight game, North Catholic will face off against Central Valley. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Central Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, North Catholic turned things around against Central Valley on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since May 29, 2024.

Caden Williams looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. He has become a key player for North Catholic: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, North Catholic's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Landon Eifler, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three hits gave Eifler a new career-high. Josef Safar was another, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Central Valley dropped their record down to 6-7 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for North Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
