Basketball Preview: Stockbridge Tigers vs. Lovett Lions
Stockbridge has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Lovett Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stockbridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully the Lions like a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Stockbridge gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 80-25 win over Hampton. Given Stockbridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Hornets are ranked 429th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stockbridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carrington Wilson out in front who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Wilson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kahli Ingram, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Lovett had to suffer through a rough 65-33 loss at the hands of the Lions. Lovett was down 47-23 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Stockbridge has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Lovett, their loss dropped their record down to 1-20.
Everything came up roses for Stockbridge against the Lions in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 75-16 victory. Does Stockbridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
