After both having extra time off, the Broad Run Spartans and the Loudoun County Captains will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Broad Run 4, Loudoun County 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Broad Run is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Rock Ridge last Wednesday as they made off with a 17-1 victory. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Phoenix recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Annie Market, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Hannah Shamieh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Broad Run hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.
Loudoun County came out on top against Riverside last Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Captains took their contest against the Ram 9-4.
Loudoun County also got a great performance from Madison Karschner as she struck out 13 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. Karschner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Olivia Eastlake was incredible, firing off three home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Caroline Picarillo, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Loudoun County's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Broad Run, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Broad Run has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Loudoun County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Broad Run couldn't quite get it done against Loudoun County when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
