Englewood suffers fifth straight loss at home

Recap: Englewood Rams vs. Sandalwood Saints

The Englewood Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 49-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sandalwood. Englewood has struggled against Sandalwood recently, as their contest on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Englewood lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tayshaun Solomon, who scored two points along with eight assists and five steals. That's the first time this season that Solomon posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Kevon Roulhac, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Englewood were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. This was only their seventh loss (out of eight games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Sandalwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeremy Suero led the charge by scoring 13 points along with six steals. Suero has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Antonio Hodges was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.

Englewood's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-10. As for Sandalwood, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.

Englewood won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Atlantic Coast at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Atlantic Coast is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Sandalwood on the road again on Saturday and play against Crestview at 11:00 a.m. on January 20th.
