Softball Recap: Santo Wins Going Away Against Ranger

While Santo put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Ranger. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Bulldogs. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Maddie Koonce made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Myranda Cain was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Addie Lewis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

Santo hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory got Santo back to even at 9-9. As for Ranger, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Santo will venture away from home to face off against Huckabay at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Ranger, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Strawn at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.17 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
