Softball Recap: Avon Comes Up Short

Avon made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Gayville-Volin, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Pirates fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 9-7 on Monday. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Avon's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Gayville-Volin, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon will challenge Centerville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gayville-Volin, they will face off against Vermillion at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tanagers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
