Basketball Recap: John Paul II Takes a Loss

John Paul II was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Holy Cross Knights and fell 89-7. The Centurions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-0.

It was another big night for Aaron Garcia, who went 12 of 14 en route to 25 points and three steals for Holy Cross. Garcia's evening made it 19 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Steve Hernandez, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 10 points and five steals.

John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Holy Cross, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-14.

John Paul II has already played their next match (against New Braunfels Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Holy Cross will challenge Incarnate Word Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Holy Cross' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
