Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Pine View

Pine View had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt East on Saturday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Leopards with a sharp 7-0 win. The Panthers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 19th (when they won 13-5).

Porter Campbell and Tristen Sylvester made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Campbell pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sylvester didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Campbell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Campbell went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Sylvester went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Sylvester has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Pine View got a big performance out of Parker Heath, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Heath has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Bates, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Pine View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East only managed three.

The victory (which was Pine View's third in a row) raised their record to 12-14. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for East, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Pine View nor East have any future games scheduled.
