Cupertino has gone 8-2 against Monta Vista recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Pioneers will look to defend their home field against the Matadors at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Cupertino didn't have quite enough to beat Lynbrook and fell 5-4. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Santa Clara hit Monta Vista with a six-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Matadors took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins. The defeat continues a trend for the Matadors in their meetings with the Bruins: they've now lost six in a row.

Tim Yin was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Yin wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sravik Sajja, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another was Aiden Huang, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Cupertino's loss dropped their record down to 10-9-1. As for Monta Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Cupertino skirted past Monta Vista 9-7 in their previous matchup on April 8th. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Matadors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
