Basketball Recap: Cade Memeo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Foothill over Red Bluff

Foothill easily dispatched Shasta last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Foothill Cougars fell just short of the Red Bluff Spartans by a score of 66-63 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cougars have suffered since December 26, 2024.

Foothill's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cade Memeo, who went 6-for-12 en route to 15 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Memeo is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last four games he's played. Wyatt Forward was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Red Bluff's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bryce Owens, who went 10-for-16 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Owens a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Sides, who made all 7 shots he took to post 18 points.

Foothill's loss dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Red Bluff, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.

Foothill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-49 win against Enterprise on the 11th. As for Red Bluff, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 44-32 defeat against Pleasant Valley on the 11th.
