Oaks Christian has gone 8-2 against Agoura recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Chargers at 3:30 p.m. Oaks Christian is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
Oaks Christian picked up another tournament win on Friday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Royal.
Sophia Debs spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.
On the hitting side, Giabella Otani was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Garcia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Agoura). They blew past Calabasas 30-0 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Aly Chavez looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mia Gomez and Amaya Del Olmo did most of the damage at the plate: Gomez fired off three home runs, ten RBI, and six runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances, while Del Olmo fired off three home runs, eight RBI, and four runs while going 5-for-6. Gomez is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Login Vinciri also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Agoura always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .780. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Oaks Christian pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Agoura, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-10.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oaks Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Agoura struggles in that department as they've averaged .389. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oaks Christian couldn't quite finish off Agoura in their previous matchup on April 1st and fell 7-5. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
