Langtree Charter Academy and Sugar Creek Charter are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2021, but not for long. The Langtree Charter Academy Lions just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Sugar Creek Charter Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Langtree Charter Academy has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 16.

On Tuesday, Langtree Charter Academy took a blow against Community School of Davidson, falling 79-39. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while the Spartans are ranked 184th).

Meanwhile, Sugar Creek Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-60 heartbreaker at the hands of Jackson Day. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered against the Mariners since January 15, 2019.

Langtree Charter Academy will need to focus on slowing down Derek Thomas, one of several Sugar Creek Charter players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6 for 8 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. That's the most boards Thomas has posted since back in December of 2024. Corde Harrison was another key player, going 5 of 8 to rack up 11 points and five assists.

Langtree Charter Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Sugar Creek Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Langtree Charter Academy strolled past Sugar Creek Charter in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a score of 51-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Langtree Charter Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
