Baseball Recap: Notre Dame Takes a Loss

Notre Dame had lost ten straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-18 to make it 11. They lost 15-4 to the Christian Academy of Knoxville Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 on Thursday.

Notre Dame saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charles Hunt, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Christian Academy of Knoxville, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

On Christian Academy of Knoxville's side, Joey Sulish made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Sulish was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Christian Academy of Knoxville got a massive performance out of Brody Waller, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave Waller a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chip Shelton, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

While Notre Dame had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
