Football Recap: Chesapeake Panthers vs. Northwest Mohawks

Chesapeake had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-3 to make it six. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 42-41 to the Northwest Mohawks. The matchup was a 13-13 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

As for Northwest, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.0 points over those games.

Northwest got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jake Brown out in front who rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 201 yards and three TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Carson Christian, who picked up 134 receiving yards and three scores.

Chesapeake and Northwest will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Panthers are set to take on their familiar foe Dawson-Bryant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Northwest will face off against rival Wheelersburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
